Sophie is a multi-award-winning freelance journalist born and bred in Yorkshire. Since winning an Amnesty International Human Rights Media Award in 2011 for a human trafficking investigation, she has since worked on her own stories for Channel 4 News, ITV News, The Guardian and BBC News.
Sophie has also worked for a variety of newspapers locally and nationally and won an NCTJ Awards for Excellence for “Scoop of the Year,” for uncovering a network of child sexual exploitation in Sheffield and Rotherham. Most recently she has trained and worked for the BBC in current affairs and is now back freelancing as a journalist, researcher and vlogger from her family home in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
